Endodontic dental treatment
Root canal treatment or as they say "nerve extraction" is an endodontic procedure that we apply when deep caries damages the nerve. If caries does not heal over time, it spreads and reaches the nerve of the tooth and infects it.
A damaged nerve can react with inflammation that the patient certainly feels, or with death that can go away without symptoms. Tooth injury or trauma can cause the same changes to the tooth. Sensitivity to heat and cold, spontaneous pain that intensifies at night, pain when chewing or "pimple" (fistula) on the gums above the teeth are certainly the consequences of inflammation of the dental nerve.
No matter at what point nerve inflammation is diagnosed, endodontic surgery or, as we usually say, tooth nerve extraction is applied. It is extremely important to perform this procedure in complete isolation of the tooth in conditions with a minimum amount of bacteria and therefore each procedure of endodontic therapy is performed using cofferdam (rubber sheet) which isolates the tooth from external conditions and harmful factors.
